John always wanted to be a teacher, and he combines this passion with an interest in simulations and computer-generated plans to teach students about the work of a mine designer.

John’s career shows how you can combine careers to be working in STEM, and affecting STEM outcomes without directly being employed by a traditional STEM employer. This video also gives insight into what a mine designer does in their career, and how computer literacy is essential for modern roles.

This resource is best suited to students in Years 4, 7 and 8 who are learning about the Earth’s surface, rocks and mining and who want to find out more about careers in this field.
