IT & Gaming Careers Event

posted in: STEM In Action | 0

Do you have students interested in a career in IT or Gaming? If you or your students are in the Brisbane area, this event might be a gold mine of information!

In one hour, students will participate in quick 6-8 minute “Speed Talks”, having the opportunity to get up-close and personal with several real-world professionals. It’s your chance to satisfy their curiosity, ask all those burning questions about careers in IT and Games; and get a clearer idea of possible future study options. Think of it like Speed Dating for IT careers – only less retro, and more suitable for school!

Topics to be discussed could include: the different opportunities and career paths that STEM subjects can lead to; what to expect in terms of day-to-day tasks; team and project work; and the skills and attributes that are most valued and highly sought after in the IT and Games industries. Students will need to come prepared with questions to ask – it’s up to them to steer direction of the conversation to get the most out of it.

It will also be a great way to meet new friends, get a feel for student life at university and have a yummy afternoon tea on QUT, too!
