The D.I.Y. Science series contains some of our favourite experiments for kids to try at home. They are designed to help school teachers and carers inspire a child’s curiosity in science. It’s time to get hands-on.

In this episode, we learn how to make different musical notes by controlling the vibrations of an elastic band.

This resource is suited to Physics students in years 1 and 9 who are learning about sound energy and waves. It provides a fun demonstration about how sound is made, and how we can use this knowledge to make musical instruments.
